A family, a field, and a passion for sharing Sri Lanka's village soul
View Paddy Field Home Stay began with a simple idea: what if travellers could experience Sri Lanka the way the locals truly live it — surrounded by rice fields, breathing clean air, and sitting down to a homemade meal together?
Owned and operated by D.M.P. Hettiarachchi and family, our little corner of Pilawela village near Kandy has welcomed guests from over 30 countries. Each one leaves not just with photos, but with memories that stay with them long after the flight home.
We are not a hotel. We are a home. And when you stay with us, you are genuinely our guest.
Everything we do is guided by our love for this land and our guests.
We protect the environment that makes this place special. Solar usage, minimal waste, and plastic-free wherever possible.
Sri Lankan hospitality isn't a concept — it's a way of life. Your comfort is always our first thought.
No performance, no pretence. What you see is what you get — genuine village life, open to you.
At $12/person with breakfast, we believe quality nature experiences should be accessible to everyone.
Your stay isn't just a bed and breakfast — it's an immersion. Wake up to the smell of hoppers and curry. Hear the morning prayers from the village temple. Watch the sun rise over the paddy field with a cup of Ceylon tea in hand.
On request, our host family can arrange a local cooking class, a village walk, or connect you with nearby temples and cultural sites that most tourists never discover.

"We built this place because we wanted the world to see what we see every morning — the paddy field, the mist, the simple beauty of living close to the earth. Every guest who stays here becomes part of our story."
Words only get you so far. The paddy field view, the fresh breeze, the homemade curry — you have to live it.
